Proposal Criteria and Submission Information

We are no longer accepting proposals for the 2026 conference. Thank you for your interest. We hope to see you there!

All presenters will be expected to register and pay for this event. Please be available for the duration of the summit for scheduling purposes.

Please note that we will not accept proposals that are advertisements for commercial products. If you are a vendor interested in being a sponsor for the conference, please contact us at neoersummit@gmail.com.

Our Timeline

  • Proposals are due by Monday, January 5, 2026  EXTENDED TO SUNDAY, JANUARY 25TH
  • Notifications of acceptance by Sunday, January 25, 2026 
  • Full Program available by Friday, February 27, 2026

Reviewer Criteria

  • Relevance – The topic is relevant to Open Educational Resources, Open Education, and contributes to research and/or effective practices in the field.
  • Connection – Connection to the theme of the conference. 
  • Coverage – The topic is clearly described and the session covers the topic adequately.
  • Innovation – The topic has innovative concepts.
  • Research/Outcome Based – The topic is research/outcomes based.
  • Takeaways – The session includes key takeaways for participants.
  • Improved Processes and Best Practices – The session could help improve processes and/or best practices in the field.
  • Knowledge – The speaker or speakers appear to have sufficient knowledge and expertise to address the topic.
  • Interaction – The proposal describes clearly how the public will be involved in the session (Q&A, survey, jam board…)

Submission Form Content

Types of sessions:

Presentation:  A presentation on a topic relating to open education (35 minutes + 10 minutes Q&A).

Panel Presentation: Two or more individuals addressing a topic from multiple perspectives.  Inter-institutional panels are encouraged (35 minutes and 10 minutes Q&A).

☐  Workshop: An action-oriented hands-on workshop focusing on techniques and skills (90 minutes).

 

☐ Lightning Talk: A brief presentation on a topic relating to open education (5 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A).

Creative Commons License

All session materials will be shared in ScholarWorks, the UMASS Amherst Institutional Repository, after the conference.

In order to publicly share materials you produce for the session (Slideshow, handouts, etc.), a CC BY Creative Commons license will be applied unless otherwise assigned by you: Creative Commons licenses.
