Proposal Criteria and Submission Process

Learning Tracks

We invite proposals related to the year’s theme on the following learning tracks:

  1. Assessment & Evaluation: Research in OER, Evaluation student of engagement, OER Impact and Programmatic Assessment, Future Assessment Projects, Applying assessment results
  2. Sustainability: Sustainability, Engaging Student Leaders, OER for Resilience, OER Community Building, OER and Technology
  3. Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA):  Engaging Student Leaders, Inclusion and Diversity in Open Education, OER Community Building
  4. Creation: OER Creation & Management, Copyright, Licensing, and CC 101, Instructional Design and Ed Tech for OER, Open Pedagogy

Reviewer Criteria

  • Relevance – The topic is relevant to Open Educational Resources, Open Education, and contributes to research and/or effective practices in the field.
  • Connection – Connection to the theme of the conference. 
  • Coverage – The topic is clearly described and the session covers the topic adequately.
  • Innovation – The topic has innovative concepts.
  • Research/Outcome Based – The topic is research/outcomes based.
  • Takeaways – The session includes key takeaways for participants.
  • Improved Processes and Best Practices – The session could help improve processes and/or best practices in the field.
  • Knowledge – The speaker or speakers appear to have sufficient knowledge and expertise to address the topic.
  • Interaction – The proposal describes clearly how the public will be involved in the session (Q&A, survey, jam board…)

All proposals should be submitted through ScholarWorks. You must create an account to submit, and then will be prompted to supply the following information.

Step 1: Identify the track that your session will address:

Assessment & Evaluation

For example: Research in OER, Evaluation student engagement, OER Impact and Programmatic Assessment, Planned initiatives (What will you assess? With what methods? How will you act on results?)

Sustainability

For example: Engaging Student Leaders, OER for Resilience, OER Community Building, OER and Technology, Tenure & Promotion, State Initiatives, Policies, Legislation

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA)

For example: Engaging Student Leaders, Inclusion and Diversity in Open Education, OER Community Building

Creation

For example: OER Creation & Management, Copyright, Licensing, and CC 101, Instructional Design and Ed Tech for OER, Open Pedagogy

Step 2: Identify the type of session you are planning:

Presentation:  A presentation in which you share information related to one of the learning tracks (35 minutes + 10 minutes Q&A).

Panel Presentation: Two or more individuals addressing one of the tracks from multiple perspectives.  Inter-institutional panels are encouraged (35 minutes and 10 minutes for Q&A).

Round-Table or Special Interest Groups (SIG session): Propose and lead a discussion on an OER topic of interest to you (35 minutes and 10 minutes for Q&A).

Workshop: Action focused hands-on workshop focusing on techniques and skills (90 minutes).

Session Abstract – Please explain in 150 words or less what you plan to present or discuss.  This abstract will be used in the conference program.

Objectives of the Session – List 1-2 objectives for this session. (What will your attendees know or be able to do after your presentation?) 

Full Description of the Session – Please state in 250 words or less what you plan to cover during your session and how you will incorporate attendee participation.  i.e. real time polls, Twitter feeds, small group discussions, etc.  Interactive sessions are strongly encouraged.  Include who should attend and what level (beginner, intermediate or advanced) the presentation is geared toward.
